Drawing in Motion
Summer 2025 residency with Oriel Canfas in Cardiff Wales included residency at the gallery and workshop space for project work, plus public sharing which included a solo exhibition and performance. See for artwork produced on this project.

Residency
This residency project aimed test the build and test the capabilities of a second prototype of a drawing instrument,, which utilised the gallery space and could be tested with a variety of materials. This prototype was the first built with a looped set-up, allowing the artist to work continuously, layering marks on the paper. The gallery space was then curated throughout the residency period as drawings were simultaneously produced, considered and displayed.

Exhibition and performance
IThe exhibition opened to the public and Cardew was joined by Jon Rudduck, Rob Smith, and Martin Lloyd-Chitty from the South Wales Improvisers for a one-off improvised sound and drawing performance, testing the drawing instrument for the first time in this way with performers and a small audience.
