'Filled Silence' is the result of a continuing fascination with graphic scores. The work explores areas my own drawing compositions, using the 'cut-out' both as a means to challenge the boundaries of a drawing and demand a continued attention from one drawing to the next. This is reflected in the performer instructions - no silence, pauses or breaks.

This work began as a large scale drawing, made during a live collective improvisation in 2019 with the NAWR ensemble. The 2hr improvisation included a variety of performers, musicians and visual artists, all reflecting on Brexit using the theme of 'Ode to Joy' - the anthem of the European Union. A year later, as Britain officially left the EU, I came back to the drawing, deconstructing and reassembling into a wire-bound book of drawings.
